If you have ever used Pushbullet, Join is its best alternative. Similar to Pushbullet, you can send links, notes, and files between devices. You can also share your clipboard between an Android device and PC as well as between multiple Android devices. Those are just a few of the many features that Join app offers. Join is a paid app containing ads and some features locked out. You can unlock those features with one-time payment of $4.99 and get rid of those pesky ads. Trust me, the features are worth paying for. Whether you are a newbie or someone who is contemplating on buying the app, we are here to help you out. Take a look at some of tips to help you use it like a pro. Let’s get started.
1. Sync App Notifications
One of the primary features of the Join app is to sync notifications across devices. While many apps let you send your Android notifications to PC, there are a handful of apps that support notification sync between Android devices. And guess which is one of them? Join app. Once you enable the notifications syncing, you will get each device’s notifications on other devices. It can get chaotic. Thankfully, you can customize the apps and devices on which you want to receive notifications. To sync notifications, follow these steps: Step 1: Open Join app on your Android phone and tap the hamburger-like icon at the top-left corner. Then select Settings. Step 2: Tap on Notifications and enable Send Notifications, in case it isn’t enabled. Step 3: By default, none of the apps are selected. You need to manually select the apps for which you want to share notifications. To do so, tap on Notification Apps and choose the apps. Step 4: Similarly, you will have to manually select the devices to which you want to sync notifications. To do that, tap on Notification Devices and select the devices.
2. Sync Call Notifications
The above feature lets you sync app notifications only. Join provides another feature where all your devices will ring simultaneously if you get a call on one of them. For instance, if you have three phones (A, B, and C) and you get a call on phone A, then the phones B and C will also ring to notify you about the call. Not only that, you can also disconnect the call from other devices. To use this feature, follow these steps: Step 1: Open Join’s Settings and go to SMS and Phone Calls. Step 2: Then enable SMS and Call Service. Once enabled, tap on Advanced. Step 3: Tap on Phone Notifications and select the preferred behavior for which you want to receive notifications.
3. Send or Get All Notifications
If you are sitting far from your other devices and you want to check notifications on them, Join app lets you fetch those notifications. Alternatively, you can also send all notifications from one device to another. To do so, open the Join app and on the first screen, you will see all the connected devices. Tap on the three-dot icon next to the device from which you want to get notifications. Then tap on Get Notifications. All the notifications from the second device will then be available in your notification panel. Similarly, if you want to send your current device’s notifications to another device, tap on the three-dot icon next to the recipient and hit Send Notifications.
4. Mute Notifications on PC
If you use Join’s Chrome extension on your desktop, the constant buzz of notifications can get annoying at times. Thankfully, you can mute notifications for 15 minutes, up to six hours. To mute notifications, right-click the Join Chrome extension icon and select Mute from the menu.
5. Take Screenshot Remotely
If your devices are in the other room, you can still capture screenshot of what’s on its screen using this app. Similarly, you can also get screenshot on PC using the Chrome extension. To capture screenshot on Android, tap the three-dot icon next to the device and hit Get Screenshot. Whatever screen is open on the second device, it will be captured. Once the screenshot is captured, the image will open on the device from which the request was made. Did you know that you can also open apps on other phones remotely? Check the next tip.
6. Open Apps Remotely
While you cannot fully control other devices, Join lets you open apps remotely. To do so, simply tap the Open App option under device Settings that is accessible by tapping the three-dot icon next to the device name. Then select the app that you want to open.
7. Access Clipboard
There are two ways by which you can access the clipboard across devices. The first method involves manually pushing the copied entry using the bubble that appears every time you copy text on your Android device. The second one makes the copied text automatically available on other clipboards. To sync clipboard, do this: Step 1: Open Join Settings and tap on Clipboard. Step 2: Enable Monitor Clipboard. Now if you want to share the clipboard using the bubble, enable Clipboard Bubbles. Else select the Auto Send Clipboard option to send the copied text to other chosen devices automatically.
8. Ring and Locate Device on Map
Sometimes we keep our phone on silent and then can’t recollect where we left it. In situations like these, you can use the Join app to locate it. Join provides a feature where your device will ring even if it is on silent. Similarly, if you want to track one of your devices, you can check its location using this app. To use these features, tap the three-dot icon next to the name of the device and select Ring or Locate on the menu. Once you tap Ring, your second device will start ringing. And when you tap Locate, Google Maps will open on the first device showing the location of the second device.
9. Speak On Phone
If you want to go a step further, you can send voice messages to other devices. Technically, you have to write the text and the app will announce it. To do so, tap on the Speak option once you hit the three-dot menu next to the device name. Then enter the text that you want the device to say out loud.
10. Receive Battery Notifications
It is difficult to keep a check on battery level of all your devices. Thankfully, Join comes with a feature that notifies you about low battery on connected devices and also when it is fully charged. To enable this feature, go to Join Settings and tap on Pushes. Then tap on Advanced and on the next screen, enable Battery Notifications. Alternatively, you can always check the battery of other devices by tapping the respective device name on app’s homescreen
